“We are a mixed-race family of 4, Japanese husband and Colombo-Canadian wife and two kids. We are grateful to have the opportunity to connect with the LAL community and also to have our children experience art and creativity in English. We hope they continue to provide an innovative and encouraging place for our family for many years to come. “

“When my daughter turned 2, I started looking for a toddler-friendly art workshop and found LITTLE ARTISTS LEAGUE. We’ve attended many LAL workshops since we first joined in 2017 - paintings, collages, pottery, mobiles, mosaics... Such diverse contents and so much fun, both for parents and kids. Her favorite Workshop so far? “Inspired by Van Gogh! - I like the Starry night best, because the night looks so real!” she said. We are always looking forward to joining the next event!”

“My daughter, now 4 years old, and I have joined numerous LAL workshops since its establishment 3 years ago and loved every one of it. My husband and I are Japanese but grew up abroad since we were little and we speak in English at home. We are hoping that our children will grow up to be bilinguals and be comfortable in an international environment like us. We are so grateful to have these LAL workshops in which our children can experience and learn art, creativity, English and international cultures - all in one session. I am planning to bring my currently two year old twin girls into LAL too soon. “

Even after being in Japan for fifteen years, it still brings some shadow at times due to what we feel is non-acceptance in the society. This is especially hard for my seven year old son, born and raised in Japan, who can't fully grasp the notion of 'gaikoku'. At LITTLE ARTISTS LEAGUE, diversity and creativity rule, and learning about European painters and World Art History is embraced with excitement. We impatiently wait to express ourselves through art, to meet our friends, talk in all the languages and enjoy every minute of it as a kind of therapy that brings balance in our lives.

“LAL is perfect for our family because we meet so many people with different backgrounds and see how they express their ideas through art. We also love using the fantastic art supplies that kids don’t really get to use at home -such as black paint!! Thanks to LAL, my son loves going to museums. When he sees a work of art he knows, he exclaims “I know this artist because I did at LAL!”
